CELTIC SUPPORT 'BEST IN WORLD' SAY MADRID FANS

CELTIC fans have been hailed as "the best in the world" by Spanish onlookers following their appearance at the Bernabeu last night.

The Celtic team may not have been winners on the park last night, as Ange Postecoglou's men were comfortably beaten 5-1 by the kings of Europe, but in the stands, the Celtic support were, as always, on a different level.

The Parkhead faithful refused to let defeat to European champions Real Madrid dampen their enthusiasm for the club they love.

Green Brigadiers were forced by nervous Madrid officials to wait inside the ground for some time after the final whistle and they took the opportunity to take in the iconic stadium.

As they exited the ground, though, they remained in fine voice, signing their version of 'Bella Ciao'.

A video emerged on social media of Hoops fans pouring out of the Bernabeu.

As the large portion of the Celtic fans kept their party going, one Spanish observer told a fan that the Hoops' travelling support are probably the best supporters in the world.

This sentiment, exuded by Madrid locals, stands in stark contrast to the usual diatribe from bitter British journos allied to the usual hatemongers from the south side of Glasgow, aka "The Worst Team in Champions League History". But who cares about them.

Asked about the club's fans after the match, Celtic gaffer Ange Postecoglou was full of praise.

He said: “Their support is unbelievable. Obviously we’ve lost 5-1. I don’t think anyone enjoys that kind of defeat. Their reaction after the game was not just them trying to make us feel good, I think they can appreciate what the players are trying to do.

“That gives us, and certainly me, massive motivation to reward them. To make sure we qualify again next year and next year we perform better and give them more moments like Jota’s. Because that is what they deserve.

"Ultimately I am responsible for the approach we have taken and how we have gone about things and I would have wanted to repay them for their support.”
