35th DERBY ENDS IN WIN FOR CELTIC

Celtic have beaten Rangers 1-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-finals in the 35th Glasgow derby since 2012 and will now take on Inverness in a bid to win the oldest trophy in world football.

Jota scored the only goal of the game at the National stadium in the first half; Daizen Maeda with the assist for his team-mate's headed goal.

The Celts started the better of the two sides, dominating much of the play in the first half - in which Rangers were unable to register a single shot on target.

Rangers looked to have a lot more energy in the second half and pushed their Glasgow rivals until the final whistle.

However it seemed to come down to two things in this match, 'effort' and 'belief'. Rangers showed a lot more effort in the second half but you still got the feeling it was Celtic who had more belief in themselves when in possession of the ball.

Celtic were able to hold their ground, though, and rounded off the day with a good win, which sets us up nicely to go for our first treble since the culminationof the Quadruple Treble days of a few years ago.

Next up, we have a tough match to negotiate at Tynecastle where Hearts and their new manager in particular, ex Ranger Steven Naismith, will be determined to stop Celtic from winning the league on their patch.

Whether we do it there next Sunday (7th May), or keep it on ice for the Rangers game, in the 36th derby at Ibrox the following Saturday (13th May), remains to be seen. One thing's for sure, it really is only a matter of time.

Hail Hail.
